Most American business cultures are based on European norms and values. This approach was successful when the majority of the staff and leadership were homogeneous. However, due to the demographic changes in the U.S. over the past quarter century, a greater number of diverse employees are now part of organizations. Unfortunately, since C-suite leaders remain culturally homogeneous, there is a disconnect between corporate cultures and the plethora of new Latino employees.

A paradox still remains where corporations will develop targeted customer marketing campaigns based on ethnic background, cultural disposition, and customer orientation, yet continue to treat all their employees similarly. Why would customers be treated differently than employees?
